BOOKS!

Today my favorite bookstore ever started its going out of business sale. Though this sounds upsetting, I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER. Everything in the store was 60% off! The best thing was that this store was filled with ancient books that were published up to 200 years ago. So, wile kicking children, pushing elderly, and punching fellow teens, i got the books I’ve always wanted to get.

First on my list was 'Vanity Fair' by William Makepeace Thackeray. The part that made this book always on the top of my list (if only it didn’t cost so much) was the fact that it’s a second edition that has the original illustrations by the author. That alone was enough to make me hyperventilate.

Second was the complete works of Edgar Allen Poe, I love Poe. I’ve read most of his work but I’ve never owned the entire collection, and since it was 60% of, I couldn’t loose. So I took it.

Third were more additions to my collection of Classic Books. I got “On the Nature of Things” by Lucretius, and because I was feeling spontaneous I grabbed a book that had “Tacitus” on the cover, and since it looked interesting a grabbed it.

Fourth I got “I’robot” by Isaac Asimov. I never was too drawn to the book, but I decided that since I could get it for under a dollar, I might as well grab it.

Now, I must tell you about this amazing bookstore, because its going out of business and I want you to know why I loved it so much, before I forget about it. First, This bookstore was family owned, so the employee’s actually cared about the books, and who owned them. The people that worked there actually liked the books they sold, and weren’t just doing it because they needed a part time job. Second, it had an amazing atmosphere. It looked really old inside and that always intrigued me. It was filled floor to ceiling with towering wooden bookcase’s that were filled with books that were very old, and had amazing artwork on them. Most the books were from a time before TV when People cared more about them, they were mostly hardcover, and had delicate artwork. It also is fun to look at some of the books that are rare and extremely old. Some of the books were from back in the time of our Founding Fathers, most of them were the only of there kind and just breathtaking to look at. Most were records though, but still interesting. Mainly records of whom owned what land in Michigan during the year 1777,1778, 1789 and so on.

Finally its hitting me that I will probably never find a bookstore like that again.
